Akbar Shafiee, MD, MSc is a board-certified specialist in Community Medicine and a research associate at the Tehran Heart Center, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). He earned his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (1996–2003) and, after completing military service, entered private clinical practice.
In 2009 he joined the Cardiovascular Research Department at Tehran Heart Center as a research fellow. From 2010 to 2011 he pursued postgraduate studies at Leiden University, the Netherlands, earning an MSc in Vitality and Ageing.
