Akbar Shafiee
I am a specialist in preventive and community medicine currently working as a practitioner at Tehran Heart Center and as a research associate at the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. I have devoted my professional life to cardiovascular research in order to provide answers to many clinical and epidemiological question in this field. I studied medicine at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran (1996-2003). After doing my military service for the Iranian Army (land force) in the Western borders of Iran, I began my career as a physician in the private section. Science always drives me forward so I joined the cardiovascular research department of Tehran Heart Center in 2009.
In 2010 I moved to the Netherlands to begin a master's degree in vitality and ageing at Leiden University. After graduation in 2011, I returned to Iran with a new scientific vision and began my career as a research assistant at Tehran Heart Center. Simultaneously, I joined the knowledge management unit of Rejaee Heart Hospital to develop the national guidelines in Cardiology. In September 2014, I began my residency in preventive and community medicine and got my specialty degree in September 2018.
I have published over 75 articles in medical sciences and have conducted many workshops in scientific writing and methodology. I enjoy working with students and I am supervising two research groups on AI and systematic review at the moment.
